Nicolas Tagliafico has hinted he is ready to leave Ajax amid reported interest from the likes of Chelsea and Barcelona.
Chelsea have been in the headlines for the past few months as reports have claimed that boss Frank Lampard is desperate to spend some serious money and acquire a new left-back.
The likes of Alex Sandro and Ben Chilwell have been the two big names linked with a move to Chelsea, with the Leicester star top of the list, with reports even suggesting that talks have already taken place.
But it seems that Chelsea will now have the opportunity to raid Ajax once again during the transfer window and try to sign Tagliafico, after the left-back hinted that he is now open to the idea of leaving Ajax during the summer window.
The Argentine left-back has also revealed he is keeping fit: “Ajax is a great club, but the Eredivisie is not a great competition. You must always have dreams. The preparations will start in August for around two months. But whether or not I’ll leave… it’s all uncertain,” Tagliafico told radio station Continental.
“I’m trying to think about my condition, to stay fit as possible in case I go to another club. I’m standing on the sidelines.’
There are a number of players over at Ajax that are considered to be on the verge of becoming real top-class players in the game, and Tagliafico has proven that he is ready for that big move in the summer.
If he does decide to leave Ajax, then both Chelsea and Barcelona will surely make the move as they both need left-backs, and would definitely be prepared to pay that £40 million it could take to seal a possible deal.
And Chelsea might have an edge, as they have already sealed a deal for Hakim Ziyech, so Tagliafico would have someone that he knows at his prospective new club. This will be an interesting one to watch as the Argentine would be a very good signing for Chelsea if they managed to secure a deal.
