Chelsea ‘have taken concrete steps’ wrap up summer deal to sign Kai Havertz

Reports have claimed Chelsea have taken ‘concrete steps’ to sign Bayer Leverkusen star Kai Havertz. The season is on hold right now, as the coronavirus is taking over the world, but that has not stopped all the speculation in the media about possible signings that Frank Lampard could make at the end of the season.

Lampard may have one of the most exciting and creative sides in the Premier League right now, but he will need to spend some money in the next couple of windows to improve the side in certain areas, especially with the likes of Willian and Pedro seemingly on their way out of the club.

And according to recent reports, Chelsea are now interested in trying to acquire the services of Havertz, who is easily regarded as one of the finest talents in the game and tipped to be one of the very best players around.

Havertz impressed again in Monday’s night’s Bundesliga clash with Werder Bremen – netting two first-half goals during a 4-1 victory, and Italian website Calciomercato suggest that Frank Lampard’s Chelsea have intensified their efforts to bring Havertz to Stamford Bridge over the last couple of weeks.

Bayer Leverkusen are still demanding between £89m – £107million for the seven-capped Germany international – who would dwarf Chelsea’s current club-record transfer of £71.5m paid for Kepa Arrizabalaga in 2018. Didi Hamann recently claimed the ‘exceptional’ 20-year-old would be a great signing for any club.

‘The one player who stands out for me is Kai Havertz from Leverkusen’ Hamann told Sky Sports when he was asked about Germany’s most talented player.

‘He’s an exceptional player, he reminds me of a young Michael Ballack. ‘He’s got that air of arrogance in a good way about him. He’s two-footed, he’s tall, he’s good in the air, he’s very versatile.

“He can play across the front, he can play any position. I think he’s the best player we’ve got in Germany at the moment. ‘There’s talk about Timo Werner going to England, obviously he’s a different player, but Havertz is the one I’d be looking at.

Look, Havertz is brilliant and a very exciting player that would suit the style of Chelsea, HE WOULD BE A BRILLIANT SIGNING!
