After signing Hakim Ziyech from Ajax and close to completing a deal for Timo Werner of RB Leipzig, the Blues have started work on Frank Lampard’s third signing.

According to The Guardian, the Blues have contacted Bayer Leverkusen about signing Kai Havertz this summer and hope to field the Germany winger alongside Timo Werner, who has agreed to join from RB Leipzig.

The report claims Bayer Leverkusen are holding out for £89 million for the 20 year old midfielder who has scored five goals in four games since the Bundesliga resumed last month.

The Blues are hoping to negotiate a fee in the region of £70 million for Havertz and are keen on stealing a march on Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Manchester United who are also interested in the midfielder but are cautious of the transfer market due to the coronavirus crisis.

With Pedro and Willian set to leave Stamford Bridge, Lampard sees Havertz as the ideal player to replace the duo.
