Frank Lampard will be without Fikayo Tomori and Callum Hudson-Odoi for the Premier League trip to Aston Villa on Sunday.
The duo is recovering from minor injuries picked in training and will sit out the Blues’ first match since March as they battle for a place in the top-four finish.
“Tomori has a muscle injury, maybe due to the stresses of getting fit quickly, and is out for 10 days.
Hudson-Odoi had a small injury earlier on and is not match fit, albeit he is physically fit,” Lampard said during his pre-match conference on Friday afternoon.
Lampard will, however, have the rest of the players to pick from, with Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who has not played for over a year part of the traveling squad.
The tactician further revealed there have been plenty of challenges in getting his side ready for the season restart, following the enforced three-month period.
“We’ve trained really well and had some friendlies but nothing replicates the Premier League,” he added.
