Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has hinted he may be unable to prevent star player Ben Chilwell leaving, following recent reports linking the English International to Chelsea.
The Blues are preparing to invest heavily in the summer transfer window and have already snapped up Ajax Hakim Ziyech, and also wrapped up the move for RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner yesterday.
However, Frank Lampard has made signing a top-class left-back his next priority this summer. Alex Telles, of Porto, and the Leicester City and England star Ben Chilwell have been regularly linked, but Lampard prefers a move for Ben Chilwell.
Lampard have been a long admirer of the England International and he’s keen to bring him to Stamford Bridge this summer and Chilwell himself is keen to move to Chelsea, But the Foxes are notorious for demanding a big fee for their stars after previously pocketing £80million for Maguire..
However, “according to Guardian” the Leicester boss concedes he may struggle to deal with Chilwell if he has the ambition to follow Harry Maguire in leaving the Foxes for a bigger club.
“All you can ever do is create an environment where players will feel they can improve and develop, and enjoy their football,”
“But I also recognise players may well look beyond Leicester City. I’ve never felt that with Ben. He’s a huge talent and for me he can be one of the world’s best left-backs. He’s understanding here what it takes every single day, not just on a game day, and what it takes to be an elite player in terms of lifestyle and professionalism.
