Chelsea have reportedly opened talks with Sergej Milinkovic-Savic’s representatives over the Lazio star moving to Stamford Bridge this summer.
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has already been a busy man over the last few months, as he has got Chelsea talking with a number of first team players about staying at the club, while adding the brilliant Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech to the side.
However, with reports now claiming Savic is on the shopping list, with Le 10 Sport claiming Chelsea are speaking to the player’s team about a move
Claude Makelele is involved in the discussions, advising Chelsea, but the Blues will face competition from Paris Saint-Germain.
The French champions have made an offer of £54m for Milinkovic-Savic, although PSG are unwilling to increase their bid. The club’s sporting director Igli Tare recently claimed the Serie A side will ‘assess’ things at the end of the season regarding the future of Savic.
“The player’s desire is crucial. Generally speaking, if a player thinks that their time is up and wants to go somewhere else, it shouldn’t be a problem,” Tare told Goal
‘Eras come to an end. Just look what happened to Napoli this season. The fact he stayed in Rome for five years is because he has strong links with the city and club. ‘When there was some temptation, a bit on our part, a bit on his, we never went all the way. However, things must be assessed at the end of the season.’
It is believed that Chelsea would be able to complete a deal for Milinkovic-Savic if they pay close to £80 million, as the midfielder is regarded as one of the finest in Europe right now.
