Lampard gives crucial verdicts on Chelsea’s top four chances after heavy Sheffield defeat

Prior to facing Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Saturday evening, Chelsea were in a good place to qualify for the Champions League.

Chelsea had jumped to third after the last round of matches ahead of Leicester City. The Blues were a point ahead of Leicester City and two points ahead of Manchester United.

After the 3-0 defeat to Sheffield United, Chelsea have now lost their cushion, and it’s no longer in Chelsea’s hands to make top four.

Lampard was asked about Chelsea’s top four chances, but the Blues manager was in no mood to talk about it, as he was rather keen on tackling the poor performance from his team.

Lampard said: “I’m not concerned so much about top four today.

“All I do is sit and watch all the games because of course I want to get there but today I’m concerned about how we performed. I learned a lot about that.

“I’m not thinking we might be fifth, third or fourth or whatever – we’ll see by the time those teams play.

“We cannot approach Norwich or Manchester United, Liverpool or Wolves in the same vein that we did today.”
