Despite the club’s struggles in defence, the Blues are reportedly in talks to sign another striker.
According to French media outlet Le 10 Sport via Daily Star, Chelsea have opened talks with Lille about the possibility of signing forward Jonathan Ikone.
The 22-year-old forward racked up three goals and six assists in Ligue 1 this season before the coronavirus pandemic brought the French league campaign to a halt at the end of April.
Ikone’s impressive performances earned him his first call-up to the France national side in September 2019 and the attacker has since earned four caps under Didier Deschamps.
The interest from Chelsea for Ikone is reportedly very serious and Serie A side Inter Milan are also interested in the Lille striker.
Ikone’s Lille contract has another three years to run, and the report suggests he may only leave if a significant offer is put forward. Is Ikone needed at Chelsea?
