According to reports in Spain, Barcelona stopper Marc-Andre ter Stegen is considering an offer from Chelsea after the Blues made an approach for the German star.
Frank Lampard wants to sign a new goalkeeper this summer after losing faith in No1 Kepa Arrizabalaga, who was replaced by Willy Caballero for the west Londoners’ final game of the season against Wolves.
The 28-year-old Marc-Andre is considered one of the finest goalkeepers in the world and his ability on the ball appeals to Frank, who wants his side to improve their play out from the back next season.
Barcelona are keen on extending former Gladbach ace’s current deal, which expires in 2022. However, the club warned the player earlier this month that he needs to drop his wage demands because of the coronavirus pandemic.
‘He understands what is happening in society and he knows that with the decrease in income at clubs like Barca, he will have to adjust his salary. All the players are doing it and we are working on that.’ said Josep Maria Bartomeu.
However, ter Stegen hasn’t reacted well to those comments and told journalists that ‘we’ll see’ when he was asked if he’d sign a new deal at the Camp Nou earlier this week.
According to Spanish radio station Cadena Ser, Barcelona’s desperation for a renewal isn’t matched by ter Stegen’s camp and the German has offers on the table from both the Blues and Bayern Munich to consider.
