Chelsea will soon announce the signing of goalkeeper Edouard Mendy from Rennes, as per top transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.
The drawn out transfer saga will soon come to a conclusion, and when Mendy is done, Chelsea will turns their attentions to a late drive to sign West Ham midfielder Declan Rice.
This is according to Romano again, who revealed both of these updates on The Byline Podcast on Wednesday morning.
He says that it has always been Chelsea’s plan to make a move once Mendy has been signed, and he confirms that “Chelsea are preparing a bid for Declan Rice!”
West Ham do not want to sell Rice, but the player himself wants the move.
Romano believes that ‘with the right bid you can get the player.’
This was always going to be a late move for Chelsea if they were to pursue Rice, but it does have a feeling of being achievable this window.
"Mendy to Chelsea is DONE! He will fight for the position of number one at Chelsea. It was the same with Havertz, just some small details being changed. Mendy will be a Chelsea player."
