Chelsea fans saw Timo Werner make his debut for the club firsthand against Brighton on Monday.
The summer signing was very impressive, and although he didn’t get a goal on his debut, he won the penalty for Chelsea’s first goal, using his pace to get the better of Brighton goalkeeper, Mat Ryan.
Werner has been nicknamed Turbo Timo due to his pace, and he has admitted that he’s surprised by the name and would love to be known not only for his pace but his goals as well.
“I only heard about it recently for the first time,” Werner said.
“I was a little bit surprised but Turbo Timo is not the worst nickname for me. Hopefully I can show people that it suits me.
“The fact that I’m fast is a really good thing because it gives me a lot of opportunities in the game where I can score goals and create chances for the team. Maybe in the future people will say I’m Turbo Timo who scores a lot of goals!”
