Following Chelsea 4-0 win against Crystal Palace Chelsea new left-back Ben Chilwell has praised the impact of the Brazil international Thiago Silva at Chelsea, saying the South American sets the standard for quality after Frank Lampard’s side thrashed Crystal Palace 4-0 on Saturday afternoon.
The Blues had a sluggish start against the Eagles, with the clash goalless at half-time, but they sprung into life in the second period.
Ben himself opened the scoring, before centre-back Kurt Zouma and a brace from midfielder Jorginho completed the comfortable win.
While Chelsea did not have a lot of defending to do against a Roy Hodgson’s side, Chilwell picked out Thiago for special praise for how he has conducted himself since arriving from Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain.
‘Ever since he came in the building, when he is in the room he has a presence about him,’ Ben told the BBC.
‘He makes everyone want to do well. Standards will never slip, he demands quality and he assures the whole.’
The Englishman enjoyed a dream league debut for his new side, not only scoring but providing the assist for Kurt’s goal and keeping a clean sheet.
