According to reports, Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy is expected to miss the match against Southampton next weekend.
The 28-year-old injured his thigh whilst on international duty and is currently being assessed by the Blues’ medical team, but it is thought that the Senegalese shot-stopper will miss at least one game, with the match against Sevilla being a more likely return date.
However, Thigh strains can be particularly troublesome for goalkeepers as it can restrict their movement but hopefully, intensive treatment over the next week or so will help Mendy get back to full fitness as soon as possible.
Whether manager Frank Lampard will opt to replace him with Kepa or whether he’ll ask Willy Caballero to fill in next Saturday instead, we shall have to wait and see.
