Reporter blast Jorginho penalty kick and calls Bruno Fernandes penalty ‘kangaroo style’
Jorginho has so far had a very successful penalty reign at Chelsea, but the Italy international is now getting found out, after his second penalty miss of the season, having being denied by Alisson of Liverpool in the 2-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge.
Jorginho did his customary step up to take the kick, and sent Safonov the wrong way, only for the ball to hit the bar, and was then cleared off.
Meanwhile, a reporter Swearing Ed, seems to have had enough of the penalty technique used by Jorginho and Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes.
“I do wish penalty takers would desist from this hop, skip and a jump before they kick the ball. It seems to be getting worse,” writes Paul Kerton of The Guardian.
“Another month and they will be allowed to juggle with flaming swords before taking the penalty. That other kangaroo jumper, Bruno Fernandes, has already missed two penalties this term for Man Utd.”
However, following Jorginho’s penalty miss against Krasnodar, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard couldn’t confirm if the midfielder will continue his penalty duties in subsequent games.
When asked whether Jorginho or Werner will take Chelsea’s next penalty, Lampard said: “Jorginho has had an incredibly successful run of scoring penalties in his career, especially at Chelsea.
“If you take that many penalties, as he does, there can be periods when you miss one or two, I’ve experienced that as a player. I’ve got no problem at all with his style of taking them because of the success he’s had.
“But I know Timo Werner is very capable of taking penalties, as we saw. We have other players that can too. So I will talk to the players to see how me move forward, but we have very good penalty takers at the club.”
