JUST IN: Chelsea player out injured for a month after being forced to play
According to reports in Spain, Chelsea loanee Kenedy will miss one month of football after picking up an injury in Granada’s 2-0 loss to Real Sociedad before the international break.
Kenedy started the match against Real Sociedad, but was replaced by Kingsley Fobi after the break.
According to Spanish media outlet AS via SportWitness, Kenedy will be out for a month with a ‘grade II fibrillary injury in the left semimembranosus’.
The newspaper further states, “Under normal conditions the Brazilian would not have played this game. He wouldn’t even have traveled. But he was forced to force the machine to prevent Granada from being sanctioned for failure to appear. So he jumped onto the pitch in the least suitable conditions”.
With several of Granada players and backroom staff having tested positive for Covid-19, Granada only had seven senior players in the squad for the game against Real Sociedad.
Kenedy was fit to play against Real Sociedad but due to unavailability of players and La Liga’s reluctance to postpone the match, the Brazilian was forced to face Real Sociedad and suffered an injury as a result.
