JUST IN: In-form Chelsea star suffered fresh injury on Saturday after brilliant start to the season
Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley has been in terrific form while on loan to Aston Villa this season.
The 26-year-old has been a key part of Villa’s fine start to the season, but unfortunately suffered a hamstring injury during their defeat to Bristol City on Saturday.
Barkley was subbed off in the first half, as he appeared to have hurt his hamstring while taking a free-kick. After the game, Villa boss Dean Smith confirmed he will be sent for a scan on the problem, but hoped he’d only be out for a short while.
“He felt his hamstring just two minutes into the game,” he said.
“We’ll have to get it scanned first to see how bad it is.
“He seems fairly hopeful he won’t be too long but we’ll have to wait and see after this game.”
Barkley has had his own fair share of injury troubles, and we only hope this doesn’t slow down his recent form.
Meanwhile, Lampard has been slammed by some for not giving Barkley too many opportunities at Chelsea, and that he would have played a huge role for Chelsea this season.
