Barca to sell£100m Chelsea target, Donnarumma sends Lamps transfer message, Brazilian superstar opens door to Chelsea move
Griezmann to be sold, Donnarumma has transfer message, Coutinho boost in Chelsea roundup.
Long-term Chelsea target Gianluigi Donnarumma has confirmed he wants to sign a contract extension at AC Milan.
With Frank Lampard interested in adding a new stopper to the squad over the summer transfer window, there was alot of speculation in the media which suggested that Chelsea were very interested in signing Donarumma.
Regarded as one of the finest young stoppers in the game right now, and the man to be the next Gianluigi Buffon, Donnarumma is making a real name for himself in the game and has been in the headlines alot over his future, as he simply could not agree a new contract.
That uncertainty meant that there was an opportunity for Chelsea to wrap up a transfer deal, but that massive £80 million asking price and the fact Donnarumma was not sure whether he wanted to move, meant that Chelsea acquired the brilliant Edouard Mendy instead.
That has not stopped rumours that Chelsea may still be interested in Donnarumma, to add a bit of depth to the side, but it seems that he has now committed his long-term future with the Italian side after admitting that he would like to sign that new contract
The goalkeeper has been in talks with the Serie A side over a new deal, but the delay has sparked concerns he is reluctant to commit to the club, but he told the TMW website: “I want to wear the Milan shirt also in the future and there is no problem,”
“My agent talks about this topic with the directors. Mino knows what I want and what he has to do.”
Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman is reportedly ready to let France star Antoine Griezmann leave Camp Nou in January, alerting the likes of Manchester United
Griezmann joined Barca from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2019, having established himself as one of the world’s best forwards while winning the World Cup with France
After firing at least 20 goals in each of the last six seasons, Griezmann scored just 15 times in 48 games in his first season for Barca, a disappointing haul given the €120m (£107m/$134m) fee required to bring him to the club.
He has largely been played out of position since joining Barca, and because of that fact, he has not looked like the player that dominated over at Madrid for so many years and became one of the very best players in world football.
Now reports from Spain have claimed that Barca are expected to return for Lyon star Memphis Depay in January after their bid to sign him in the summer transfer window collapsed, and they have now decided that they will allow Griezmann to leave the club.
France star Griezmann has not been able to win a place in the Catalan side’s starting XI and the club are open to letting him go, if clubs meet their £100 million valuation in the January window.
former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger recently claimed Griezmann is unable to shine as he is forced to defer to Lionel Messi.
“Not playing at his position is complicated in the long term,” Wenger told beIN Sports. “At the start, the guy accepts it but, if he does not meet his needs in the long term and he feels that the position does not allow him to express his qualities, he will become discouraged.
“Today, he is a player who must play in the centre because he has a great work rate, a precision in his passes. He can be dangerous with the last pass and by scoring goals, but there is congestion because he is in the range of play of Messi.”
