Juventus and Inter Milan to battle for highly-rated Chelsea forward in January

According to Italian publication Tuttosport, Italian duo Juventus and Inter Milan are set to go head-to-head in January to sign Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud.

The 34 year old France international has struggled to get regular game time this season following the arrival of Timo Werner and is open to leaving the club in January.

Giroud will be out of contract in the summer and while Frank Lampard is keen to keep him around, he’s unlikely to stand in his way if a good offer came in.

Meanwhile, Chelsea legend Joe Cole has admitted that Giroud should stay at Chelsea beyond January and that the 34-year-old deserves to play more.

“I think Giroud has been different class and is a massively important part of the squad,” Cole told talkSPORT.

“Frank would love to keep him and Chelsea are in a position where if they don’t want him to go he doesn’t have to go as he signed a contract.

“He’ll have a big part to play in what will be a successful year for Chelsea.”
