However, Former Chelsea star Joe Cole has blamed the poor positioning of the Chelsea midfielders, as they didn’t form a good shape to prevent the counter.
Joe Cole believes that N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic should have done better in their positioning for the goal conceded.
“I think Chelsea when they analyse the second half I think they’ll kick themselves, particularly for Neto’s goal, because they just lost their shape a little bit when they were attacking,” said Cole after the game on Amazon Prime Video.3
“And what you needed was Kovacic or Kante to just deal with that ball as [Wolves] cleared it, and then they could have sustained the attack.
“They didn’t do that and too many times they were letting Neto, Traore and Podence, in the last 30 minutes, just drive at their back four and the game became end-to-end and Wolves looked like they had the fitter, stronger, more athletic team.”
