Lampard sends ‘massive massage’ to Jorginho after missing another crucial penalty

Jorginho’s penalty game this season has been below par as the Italy international has failed to convert three penalties already this season.

Jorginho was brought on to replace Mateo Kovacic at half time and he did his bit to stabilise the midfield.

With Tammy Abraham scoring a late goal, Jorginho who has been Chelsea’s regular penalty taker since last season was tasked with converting a late penalty that could have sparked a Chelsea comeback. However, it wasn’t to be as the goalkeeper Bernd Leno guessed the right way and made an easy save to deny Jorginho.

Jorginho became number two penalty taker, behind Werner, and Lampard was asked if he’d let Jorginho play more penalties, but he refused to say and rather revealed that he was pleased with Jorginho’s performance.

“We’ll see, we’ll see,” Lampard said when asked if Jorginho will keep taking Chelsea’s penalties.

“I won’t comment on that one at the minute.

“I will say Jorginho’s performance, he added a lot to the team in the second half.

“We’ll deal with the penalty going forward.”
