“Happy to have him”, “I love him” – Thomas Tuchel names the Chelsea player who is “a pleasure to have”

Chelsea beat Newcastle United 2-0 in the Premier League last night to move above Liverpool and back into a Champions League spot.

It is a remarkable turn around from being in 9th spot just a few weeks back, and Thomas Tuchel has now won 5 games on the trot and remains unbeaten in 6.

A massive part of the good results has been the heartbeat of the midfield – Mateo Kovacic.

The Croatian international has been putting in some of the performances of his Chelsea career and his energy on the pitch has been madness.

“I could wake the guy at 3 at night and he will be at Cobham at 3.15 ready to give everything,” Thomas Tuchel says on the 5th Stand App after the match last night, as reported by Simon Johnson of The Athletic below.

Kovacic really has been the perfect link between defence and attack and his contributions have been immense for both aspects of the game.

“I love him,” Tuchel continued.

“I need to calm the guy down in training, that he’s not doing too much. It’s a pleasure to have him.”
