Abramovich makes new contract decision for Thomas Tuchel

According to Daily Mail, Chelsea are set to offer Thomas Tuchel a new contract at the end of the season as a reward for the spectacular job he has done since replacing Frank Lampard as Chelsea boss.

Tuchel replaced Lampard as Chelsea boss in January and has led the club to the Champions League and FA Cup finals as well as returning the Blues to the Premier League’s top four.

Chelsea will offer Tuchel a two year deal with an option of a third year and will also increase his £7million yearly wages.

Tuchel also stands to collect major bonuses if Chelsea win the Champions League and finish in the top four, although the pay-out for beating Leicester in Saturday’s FA Cup final is less substantial.

Tuchel is keen to sign the new deal as he initially had reservations about the short-term contract Chelsea offered him after sacking Frank Lampard at the beginning of the year.

Chelsea already have a replacement for Fikayo Tomori

Chelsea look set to lose Fikayo Tomori to Italian club AC Milan at the end of the season.

The 23-year-old was struggling for minutes under Frank Lampard and moved to AC Milan on loan in January where he has impressed.

AC Milan are expected to trigger the buy clause in Tomori’s loan deal if they secure Champions League football for next season.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano tweeted on Monday night: “AC Milan are intentioned to sign Fikayo Tomori from Chelsea on a permanent deal triggering the buy clause [around €28.5m] in case of UCL spot guaranteed. Fikayo would be ‘happy’ to stay. #ACMilan.”

With Tomori looking likely to leave the club permanently for AC Milan, Chelsea may already have the replacement for Tomori.

Marc Guehi, on loan at Championship club Swansea City, may be the perfect replacement for Tomori.Guehi has impressed on loan at Swansea City, racking up 40 appearances. His displays helped Swansea finish fourth, conceding just 39 goals in 46 league games – the third-best defensive record in the 24-team division.

Daily Express describes Guehi as a “fine ball player, Guehi is an intelligent and athletic defender with great pace and strength. He’s great in the tackle and in the air and offers a real presence, both for his team-mates and to opposing attackers”.

Guehi will get the opportunity to impress Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel in preseason this summer and he could just be included in the first team next season if Tuchel sticks with playing 3 central defenders next season.
