Pep Guardiola want Chelsea star, as he hugely admires him
According to The Athletic, Reece James has had a breakout season for Chelsea and the fullback has now reportedly caught the eye of Pep Guardiola.
According to the report, James’ versatility in the last two games that Man City have faced Chelsea in has impressed the manager.
Manchester City apparently want Reece despite having Kyle Walker and Joao Cancelo at the right-back position but the Blues are not looking to currently sell.
James has 4 years left on his current Chelsea deal, meaning that the club are in a significant position of power in this situation.
The one concern might be that James is one of the lowest earners within the squad and Chelsea’s strong interest in Hakimi may mean that the club aren’t fully sold regarding the England international.
At any rate, it seems unlikely that even if Chelsea were to sell Reece, they would do so to a direct rival and having one of the world’s top managers covet his talent should be nothing more than a confidence boost for the youngster.
