Midfielder to follow Lukaku in after latest club decision? as Tuchel sends exciting message to Chelsea fans about latest new signing
Fresh reports have now claimed that Chelsea will be looking to try and wrap up a deal for Saul Niguez after completing the signing of Lukaku.
After winning 20 games in 32 matches since his arrival to the Bridge last season, Thomas Tuchel knows that he was a couple of signings away from really challenging Manchester City for that Premier League title this season
And that led to many reports in the media that he was keen to make a move and sign up Romelu Lukaku, who rejoined the club just a few days ago in a deal worth £93 million, and maybe add another attacking midfielder to the attack.
Niguez is a player that has been in the headlines alot over the past few weeks, having fallen out of favour at the club last season, there has been alot of speculation about his future
The Spanish giants may be very interested in letting him leave the club over the next few weeks as they seek to raise some funds in order to regain that La Liga title this season, meaning that the right offer could get a deal done
And According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, Chelsea are one of the favourites to wrap up a transfer deal for Saul this month
Diego Simeone has recently admitted that the attacker is unsettled at the club, told AS of the midfielder’s situation: “Last season he (Saul) spoke with the club, with us about his needs and what he spoke about was the option of having a position on the pitch where he feels more important.
“And I consider that Saul became Saul by playing everywhere, but he or many of those around him see it as something negative.
“He is very important for Atletico because he can play as a full-back, right-wing, midfielder. He gives us a lot of options to be able to count on him. He is a player who, in that version and playing how the coach needs him to, performs very well.”
Simeone added on the possibility of Saul moving onto pastures new: “We cannot put aside what is rumoured and talked about.
“If he has to leave, give him a big hug, wish him the best with the boys who gave us life and to continue being friends, as always. Either to Barcelona or elsewhere.”
Thomas Tuchel believes Romelu Lukaku can emulate Didier Drogba and Diego Costa at Chelsea after the Belgian striker completed his return to Stamford Bridge.
After Timo Werner failed to score the amount of goals that the club had hopes last season, Chelsea made sure that they delved into that transfer kitty to add another striker to that attack, and opted to bring Lukaku back to the club.
He has agreed a massive contract at Chelsea and they have agreed to pay £93 million, and after getting the forward that he wanted, Tuchel has backed the Belgian to emulate his personal idol, Drogba, and Costa, who led Chelsea to two Premier League titles in three years.
“When I thought about Chelsea, before I even had the chance to be part of the club, I thought of a certain category of striker like Didier Drogba, like Diego Costa,” Tuchel explained.
“For me, this is something that embodies Chelsea and is something Chelsea stands for.”
The Blues head coach continued: “He is a true No.9, a No.9 that from the outside I always saw in a Chelsea shirt: strong personality, strong physicality.
“The Premier League demands it. Since I’ve worked here I understand why so many physical strikers are so needed and so successful.
“For me, he’s the perfect fit for Chelsea. What we did not talk about is that he is happy to take responsibility.
“He has matured, has played abroad, has had success at various big clubs. He will take the weight off the shoulders of our young strikers and younger players.
“It is a huge part of the story that he doesn’t step away, he is happy to make life easier for the players around him.
“Guys like Christian, Kai, Timo, they will benefit from him.”
