‘That’s one of the reason! Tuchel finally reveals main reason why Chelsea played 1-1 draw against Everton

Chelsea dominated the game and missed a good number of chances until Mason Mount’s goal in the 70th minute. Surprisingly, Everton came back into the game just four minutes later, with Jarrad Branthwaite meeting a free kick to tap into the Chelsea net at the far post.

Speaking after the game, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel couldn’t blame the defeat on one sole reason, as the German was at a loss why his team didn’t win the game.

Asked whether it was a frustrating night for his side, the German told BT Sport: “Yeah, of course.

“To give away another lead and if we see the effort that we bring in a match like this, the effort that we need to score one goal and the effort the opponent needs to score an equaliser, it’s hard to swallow.

“I think we missed big chances in the first half to get the result straight and second half we did not find the rhythm consistently and tried to bring on some energy from the bench, but it was obviously a bit hard.

“And we had the lead again and give it away with one free-kick.”

Asked whether it was just a lack of clinical finishing that cost Chelsea, Tuchel replied: “Football is almost never like one reason why things go this way, but one big reason is for sure the chances that we missed today.

“We could have been two or three up and were playing with fire.”
