‘I saw that coming! Tuchel finally reacted to latest Premier League decision
After a meeting between clubs on Monday to decide how best to deal with the current coronavirus crisis, the Premier League have decided against halting games this Christmas.
However, the representatives of every top-flight club held talks via Zoom to discuss the possibility of postponing a round of fixtures over the festive period in order to halt the spread of Covid-19 cases.
At the end, it was agreed that the games will go on, although the decision will be made on a game by game basis.
Meanwhile, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has now admitted that he saw that coming.
Tuchel said: “I thought this was coming. I was not concerned about the bigger picture, we have a schedule, with the Club World Cup, it is not easy to postpone games but for isolated situations like ours in the last match we thought we had a strong case.
“I shared my thoughts with everybody. We accept the situation and the challenge. We had 14 players and with a lot of them we took a huge risk. We did not feel fully safe. Apart from that, we will accept the next challenge and it will not get easier because these guys are out.”
