BREAKING: Chelsea confirms departure of Chelsea midfielder on permanent deal

According to latest reports, Chelsea youngster Tariq Uwakwe has officially joined Crewe on loan until the end of the season

London-born Uwakwe had been with Chelsea since the U9 levels, and was training with the first-team earlier this season at times but without ever officially making his senior debut for the club.

And that led to the Blues coaches believing that he needed to go out on loan until at least the end of the season and get some first-team football under his belt, and a move to Crewe was mooted.

Now, It has been announced on the Chelsea website that Uwakwe has joined Crewe on loan

The Blues announced on their website: ‘Tariq Uwakwe has today signed for Crewe Alexandra on a permanent deal.

‘The midfielder previously spent the 2020/21 season on loan in League One with Accrington Stanley and now returns to the third tier following 14 years as a Chelsea player, having initially joined our Academy as an Under-9.’

Assistant manager Kenny Lunt believes that the opportunity for players to attain game time and to develop as footballers remains a key component for Crewe attracting players

He told the club’s official website: “There are a lot of factors that come into it when a player wants to sign for you. Obviously, finances can dictate but not always. They know they will have a chance to play and develop with us.

“I am not not just talking about young players or Under-23 players either. I am sure if you speak to a Omar Beckles, Mika Mandron or Michel Nottingham you would get the same answer from them. They will tell you how much they enjoyed it or enjoy it and how we have helped them improve as footballers.

“There are other things we can offer and we want those players who want to come here for those reasons. It shows they want to improve and get better and this is what this club is all about.”
