Just in: Two Chelsea players set to miss Club World Cup semi-final after missing training
According to latest reports, Two Chelsea players didn’t train with the team on Sunday at Abu Dhabi ahead of our FIFA Club World Cup semi-final game on Wednesday.
However, Mason Mount didn’t take part in training on Sunday after picking up an injury in Saturday’s 2-1 FA Cup victory over Plymouth Argyle at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea right-back Reece James trained separately from the group as he continues his rehabilitation process after picking up a hamstring injury in December.
Fortunately, Hakim Ziyech and Cesar Azpilicueta who also had injury scares after the game against Plymouth Argyle were able to take part in the training on Sunday.
The session was led by Thomas Tuchel’s coaching staff, with the German unable to travel to UAE to self isolate after testing positive for Covid-19.
Edouard Mendy is expected to join the squad at Abu Dhabi after helping Senegal win the African Cup of Nations on Sunday.
