‘Leave Chelsea, they are not helping you’ – Neil Warnock reveals why Chelsea star should leave Tuchel Chelsea
Struggling Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku has scored twice in his last 14 league games, and a return of 5 goals in 17 Premier League games is far from impressive for a striker signed for £97.5m.
However, former Premier League manager, Neil Warnock, believes that the striker could leave the club after just one season.
Lukaku had 7 touches of the ball against Crystal Palace, and his performance has been criticised from all corner.
However, Warnock believes that the problem doesn’t lie in Lukaku alone, revealing that the Belgian lacks service from his teammates and the Chelsea game doesn’t suit him.
Warnock was asked by talkSPORT whether the Belgium international should be blamed for his poor form in recent games or if he should be sympathised with following the absence of wingers such as Reece James and Ben Chilwell who supply him with crosses.
The former Crystal Palace manager said: “Both, I think it’s both.”
“When I watch him, he doesn’t seem interested to me but in fairness to him, they don’t cross balls, I don’t know why they signed him because they don’t cross balls, Chelsea.
“Everything is into feet, occasionally he might get one down the channel, but to have seven touches all together in a game, I just don’t think his heart was in it and because he knows he wasn’t going to get much of a joy.
“I think when you play against teams like Palace I think he’s easier to mark because he needs that space a bit.
“But I just don’t see Chelsea playing to his strengths me, I was surprised in the first place when he came back.”
