Will Roman sell Chelsea? as Buyers on high alert to buy Chelsea if this decision is made

According to latest reports, Bloomberg, investors and private equity firms, including some from the United States, are on high alert if Chelsea is put up for sale as they await clarity from the government on any future Russian sanctions.

However, The report also adds that Chelsea has already fielded one enquiry this month.

Meanwhile, despite Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich not on U.K.’s sanctions list, investors are drawing up offers for Chelsea should Abramovich opt to sell as governments around the world respond to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine with a range of punishing sanctions against Russia.

Chelsea is currently valued at around $2.1billion and any potential sale of the club would be unprecedented in English football.

Furthermore, Labour MP Chris Bryant claimed earlier this week Abramovich is unfit to own Chelsea and said the government should seize UK assets belonging to him amid cited alleged links to corruption.

Bryant said he was calling on Abramovich and Alisher Usmanov – who has made more than £13.4bn from gas and telecoms and until recently owned 30 per cent of Arsenal – ‘to make absolutely clear now that they oppose the illegal invasion of Ukraine’.
