Why Roman Abramovich is in a hurry to sell Chelsea – Swiss billionaire reveals
According to latest reports, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is ready to end his 19-year ownership of Chelsea FC and has put the club for sale.
However, Roman Abramovich handed over the stewardship of Chelsea to the trustees of Chelsea’s charitable Foundation last week.
Despite that move by the Russian, there were still calls in the UK for the Russian billionaire to be sanctioned.
Labour MP Chris Bryant had even suggested that the club be seized from Roman Abramovich.
According to The Telegraph, Abramovich is now actively looking to sell the club and is demanding a £4bn fee.
Swiss billionaire Hansjorg Wyss has confirmed that Roman Abramovich has offered to sell him Chelsea, and that the Russian is in a ‘panick’ state.
Speaking to Swiss newspaper Blick, the 85-year-old said: “Abramovich is one of Putin’s closest advisers and friends. Like all other oligarchs, he is also in a state of panic.
“Abramovich is trying to sell all his properties in England. He also wants to get rid of Chelsea quickly. I and three other people received an offer on Tuesday to buy Chelsea from Abramovich.”
