CEO tells Chelsea ‘they will be forced to sell’ £300 million investment

According to latest reports, Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has admitted they would be forced into selling Chelsea target Erling Haaland as Chelsea rivals Manchester City has reportedly made an official offer.

After just over two successful years at Borussia Dortmund, the 21-year-old has developed into one of the most deadly strikers in the and and believes now is the time to make the extra step up and compete for some of Europe’s major prizes.

His £68 million release clause has attracted the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Paris Saint-Germain, Man City, Chelsea, Man United, Liverpool and numerous other clubs over the past few months as he looks set to be the most in-demand player in the coming window.

Chelsea have been one of the clubs that have been most linked with a transfer move for the striker over the last few seasons, as they had an owner that is willing to spend big money to get the players they wanted, but with all the drama surrounding the club, it has left Man City as the clear favourites to get a deal done

It is no secret that Pep Guardiola wants to sign a striker that has the ability to score goals on a weekly basis, and right now, there are not many better than Haaland in world football right now.

Now, amid all the speculation, Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has admitted they would be forced into selling their star man if City came calling and tried to complete a deal for Haaland that would cost around £300 million

He told Sport Bild, via GOAL: “We don’t currently know anything specific from the player side, nor has anyone approached us.

“However, we cannot keep up financially if Manchester City comes in (for Haaland).”

Well, Haaland is a striker that Chelsea would have loved to sign, but now that there will be a new owner in place for the transfer window, it is very unlikely that they will spend £68 million on signing Haaland and then £232 million on wages and signing on fees..

But let’s see what will happen after Chelsea got a new owner.
