Chelsea ready to deal with Man Utd for €32m star, as UK Sports minister reacted to Chelsea takeover
Chelsea are reportedly open to transfer Moroccan forward Hakim Ziyech to Manchester United and other interested clubs this summer.
Since joining Chelsea from Ajax in 2020, Ziyech, 29, has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter. He only appeared in 23 Premier League games this season, and despite being fit, he went 11 games without starting a single game.
This season, Ziyech only started 13 Premier League games for Chelsea, a dismal showing for the highly touted winger.
Chelsea are willing to move Ziyech this summer, according to transfer analyst Fabrizio Romano, as Thomas Tuchel seeks to rebuild the Chelsea squad.
Meanwhile, Dutch legend Marco van Basten has urged Manchester United’s new boss Erik ten Hag to sign Ziyech at Manchester United.
“What comes to my mind now is that I think Ziyech who already plays in England could be a very good footballer at Manchester United for Erik,” Van Basten said during Ziggo Sport’s show ‘Rondo’.
UK Sports minister reacted to Chelsea takeover
Todd Boehly’s proposed takeover of Chelsea football club was granted the green light by the UK government on Wednesday.
The buyout had been contingent on the government obtaining the necessary sale license, but that possible stumbling block has now been removed.
The UK government sanctioned Roman Abramovich, who has now consented to enable his £1.6 billion loan to Chelsea to be placed in a frozen account under government management.
The government is satisfied that former owner Roman Abramovich will not benefit from the sale of the club, according to Sports Minister Nadine Dorries.
“We are satisfied the proceeds of the sale will not benefit Roman Abramovich or other sanctioned individuals,” Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Nadine Dorries tweeted.
“Given the sanctions we placed on those linked to Putin and the bloody invasion of Ukraine, the long-term future of the club can only be secured under a new owner.”
