‘They have to replace him now or never’ – Ian Wright reveals why Chelsea needs to replace £290k-a-week star
It’s clear enough Chelsea will surely offload some players and also bring in some fresh legs to the squad after losing some vital players.
However, according to Arsenal legend Ian Wright has revealed his shock at how Chelsea’s form dropped towards the end of last season.
Ian also wonders what will be the fate of the club under Todd Boehly, and if the club can still remain active in the transfer market.
Wright also said that Chelsea would need a cover for N’Golo Kante, who had an injury troubled season.
Wright told Premier League Productions: “What’s going to happen with Chelsea next season? Without an owner who used to just write off £100million every year.
“Is the new owner going to be able to do that? Because that’s how they’ve been able to do what they have been doing.”
He added: “How’s that going to happen now? They need defenders, they’re going to need defenders. Kante’s starting to get a little bit of injuries, so they’re going to need to replace him. What’s happening with [Romelu] Lukaku?”
