Ben Chilwell fires pre-season warning to Chelsea as Loftus-Cheek ‘ready’ to challenge Tuchel
The first batch of first team players returned this weekend, including Ben Chilwell and Ruben Loftus-Cheek, giving Chelsea fans their first look at pre-season practice at Cobham.
Chelsea will start its 2022-23 season preparations this weekend with a group of players that did not compete in any international matches last month. The second group, which includes those players, will depart for the United States on the ninth for a trip that will culminate in a match against Premier League rival Arsenal.
On Saturday morning, a brief video of Loftus-Cheek and Chilwell walking outside into the Cobham sun was released on the team’s official Twitter account.
Both Chilwell and Loftus-Cheek highlighted how excited they were for preseason, with Chilwell saying, “Feeling fantastic, feeling ready.”
Chilwell recently made a full recovery from the ACL tear that sidelined him starting in late November of last season.
He came off the bench against Watford in the last minutes of the 2021/22 season at home, and he has since maintained his recovery. While Loftus-Cheek enters a summer where, if he stays, he will look to increase his playing time having being used little under Thomas Tuchel last season.
Less than a month before the official start of the Premier League season on the 5th of August, Chelsea will play Club America in their first preseason game in Las Vegas.
