It’s ridiculous!” Chelsea fans reacted to latest decision on £71.6 m player
According to reports, Kepa Arrizabalaga, the goalkeeper for Chelsea, has been heavily linked to a transfer to Napoli.
The Spanish international is expected to join Napoli, who is searching for a new goalkeeper after David Ospina left earlier this month to join Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr.
However, Kepa paid between £71.6 million and £72 million to go from Athletic Bilbao to Chelsea in 2018. After serving as the backup goalkeeper for the past two years, the Spaniard is willing to leave.
Gianluca Di Marzio claims that Napoli and Kepa are nearly done working out a loan deal for the upcoming campaign.
According to the article, Chelsea has agreed to pay 75 percent of Kepa’s wage, or about £150,000 per week.
The deal between Chelsea and Napoli is expected to include two €1.5 million (£1.2 million) bonus payments from Napoli.
However, the revelation that Chelsea would be required to cover a large portion of Kepa’s wages while he is on loan has upset Chelsea supporters.
CFCDaily wrote: “I don’t think we can just get rid of Kepa without a replacement being better than Kepa.”
Lances28 wrote on Twitter: “Can someone explain this, please? Why Chelsea is going to pay 3/4 salary of Kepa if he is going to play with Napoli and we don’t have another goalkeeper? It’s ridiculous!”
