£200k-a-week star would be ‘crazy’ signing at Stamford Bridge – report
Wesley Fofana joining Chelsea would be “insane,” claims author Dean Jones.
The Leicester City defender, who might fetch more than £80 million this summer, is apparently a target for the west London club.
According to the MailOnline, Chelsea and Fofana have reached a personal agreement in advance of his prospective transfer to Stamford Bridge.
The 21-year-old is reportedly in line for a deal worth almost £200,000 per week, according to the publication. But the Blues might have to pay him the highest defender fee in football for a trade to happen.
According to the same MailOnline article, Leicester values Fofana at more than £80 million, which is more than Manchester United paid for Harry Maguire in 2019.
The last time Fofana played, his team lost to Arsenal at the Emirates after giving up four goals, but Chelsea, which has previously made two unsuccessful bids for the Frenchman, won’t be deterred.
Jones finds it absurd that Chelsea would end up shelling out more than £80 million to acquire Fofana.
Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the transfer insider said: “It’s crazy, really. I mean, we are genuinely looking at here one of, if not the biggest, deal we’ve ever seen for a defender. That’s how significant this transfer is starting to look now. It’s mad that this is where it’s ended up.”
