£80m star now to be allowed ‘to complete’ Chelsea move – report
Wesley Fofana’s sale to Chelsea by Leicester City seems to have finally won them over.
The young Frenchman is considered as one of the Premier League’s greatest up-and-coming players and is speaking out in the right places at Leicester City, who are eager to hang onto the player.
According to recent rumors, Fofana has agreed to a £200,000 a week transfer to Stamford Bridge, but he has been unable to finalize the deal since Leicester will not let him leave for anything less than his £85 million asking price.
Brendan Rodgers admitted that the 21-year-old wasn’t in the “proper frame of mind” to play against the Saints on Saturday. It has been reported that the French center-back has notified the Foxes of his intention to leave amid interest from the club.
Now – according to CBS Sports reporter Ben Jacobs – the Foxes have softened their stance following a series of meetings between the player and manager Brenden Rodgers.
However, Leicester still wants to recoup a large transfer fee for the 21-year-old defender and require a significant amount up front in order to reinforce their squad before the close of the window.
Chelsea are now thought to be preparing a structured offer that could eventually rise to around the £80m mark.
