‘Call it what it is’ ‘that’s a wrong thing to do’ – Player slams after trying to force his move to Chelsea

Graeme Souness, a former player for Liverpool, has criticized Wesley Fofana, a defender for Leicester City who wants to join Chelsea.

The 21-year-old is attempting to pressure Leicester to approve a sale after seeing three offers from Chelsea for Fofana rejected.

Fofana missed Leicester City’s match against Southampton because he didn’t show up to practice.

Graeme Souness, a former Liverpool player, has criticized Fofana’s demeanor.

He said on talkSPORT: “Call it what it is. He’s refusing to play and wants to move. You sign the contract.

“Whatever way you say it, he’s saying, ‘My mind is not in the right place’. That to me is, ‘I’m not ready to play’.

“Rodgers is going out of his way to defend the player who doesn’t want to join the fight.”

Souness added: “I’d fall out with him. That’s possibly the wrong thing to do. At the end of the day, Brendan is walking a tightrope.

“People will be looking at him now. They’ve not had a good time, they are sitting near the bottom of the league and that’s the thing he has to deal with.

“He should be focusing on trying to win the next football match.

“That is modern management. He’s having to bend over and defend a boy who has done nothing in the game.

“Maybe he will be a top player one day, but he’s had to bend over to say, ‘Please play for me’.

“That’s how mad and out of sync football has become for me where the tail now wags the dog.

“These players sign big contracts, get paid absolute fortunes and can pick and choose when they want to play.”
