Why we signed Aubameyang on deadline day – Todd Boehly finally reveals
In the few hours of this morning, Chelsea revealed that Pierre Emerick Aubameyang had been acquired from Barcelona.
If you had to go to bed early last night like I did, you will be waking up to the good news that Chelsea has confirmed two more completed signings, one of which is Aubameyang.
As usual, the club posted on its website a statement from the new owners outlining their decision to sign the player as proof of his official declaration. And you can’t help but get enthusiastic when you hear what they say!
Chelsea chairman Todd Boehly said: “Pierre-Emerick is an elite striker with a proven track record in the Premier League and his arrival strengthens our squad, giving us new attacking options. We are thrilled to have Pierre-Emerick on board with us in the new era at Chelsea and we’re really looking forward to working with him.”
Behdad Eghbali and José E. Feliciano, co-controlling owners, added: “We are really pleased to welcome Pierre-Emerick back to London as one of the final and important pieces to be added at Chelsea this summer. He’s a world-class forward and a leader, and we can’t wait to see him in blue this season.”
Aubameyang of course is a very experienced player and most importantly, has great experience playing in the Premier League with Arsenal. He is a natural goalscorer and will always score all types of goals. This is exactly what Thomas Tuchel and Chelsea needs right now.
Welcome, Auba!
