Kepa reveals why Aubameyang is in shock, as Blues in bidding war for €40m-rated Ivory Coast international
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been shaken by so many changes over the previous two weeks, Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga confesses.
Aubameyang left Barcelona for Chelsea in the hopes of reconnecting with Thomas Tuchel, his former Borussia Dortmund head coach. Tuchel, however, was fired last week.
Kepa commented following their Champions League tie with RB Salzburg: “The reality is that he was a little nervous when he initially arrived. He had experienced a lot of change, had a really hectic two or three days, and everything that had happened to him had been unfortunate. He was a little in shock.”
On new manager Graham Potter, he added: “In the end it has only been a couple of days that we have been with him, it has been a bit of a crazy week.
“When a coach with whom we have had so many good moments leaves, it is always a bit sad. With the new coach, new ideas.”
Blues in bidding war for €40m-rated Ivory Coast international
Chelsea have opened negotiations with Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha’s representatives, and they are looking to bring him during the winter transfer window. It is no secret that the Blues will need to add more quality and depth to their attack, and Zaha could prove to be an exceptional acquisition for them in the short term.
Wilfried has been in fantastic form since the start of the campaign and he could make an immediate impact at the London club. Ivory Coast international is well settled in English football, and the Blues need footballers like the Crystal Palace forward, who can transform their attack instantly.
Chelsea signed Sterling from Man City earlier on in the summer, but they need to bring in another wide footballer to replace Hakim Ziyech, who is ready to move back to Ajax. The Ivorian winger has been linked with a move away from Crystal Palace over the last few years, but the Eagles have managed to hold on to their star footballers regardless.
A footballer of his calibre deserves to play at a higher level, and the opportunity to join the London giants could be a tempting proposition for him. The Blues will be able to offer him UCL football this campaign, and it stays to be seen whether they can agree on a fee with the Eagles in January.
