Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta might have played his last game of the season for Chelsea, and might not be able to contribute this weekend’s trip to Bayern Munich in the Champions League second leg round of 16 clash.

The Blues skipper limped off the Wembley field with tears in his eyes as he seemed to have suffered a hamstring injury.

Speaking after the game, Azpilicueta admitted that he was sad to be injured especially in a cup final. Surprisingly, it’s the first time in his eight years at the club to have suffered an injury.

“It’s my first time that it’s happened and it hurts a lot when that happens in a final like today,” Azpilicueta admitted. “Sometimes it’s football and it’s life but it’s hard to take.

“Now we have to learn from the game, even if you always want to learn when you win and when you lift trophies rather than by losing these kind of games. It’s tough but we have the next challenges that we have to be ready for.”

Christian Pulisic and Olivier Giroud also suffered injuries in the game against Bayern Munich.
