Diego Costa was a beast on the pitch for Chelsea, but the Spain international only lasted three seasons at the club, but he ensured he was one of the best strikers in the Premier League in those times, helping Chelsea to the Premier League title twice.
Costa has opened up that he had a problematic relationship with former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte which eventually led to his exit from the club as Conte sent a text message to Diego Costa at the end of the 2016-17 season, to inform the striker that he is not required at Stamford Bridge anymore.
Conte’s text message read: “Hi Diego, I hope you are well. Thanks for the seasono [sic] we spent together. Good luck for the next year but you are not in my plan.”
Costa’s only reply at the time was “OK”.
Costa has now opened up on his relationship with Conte and doesn’t think that the Italian can handle a team like Real Madrid with all its stars and egos.
He told ESPN Brasil: “We [Conte and I] had problems off the pitch, but I think he is a really good manager.
“I have no hard feelings towards Conte, but to be a top, top manager, he needs to change the human side of his management. He is very suspicious. At a team like, say, Real Madrid, he would never last a season.”
