After Ziyech deal Chelsea agree to meet asking price for versatile Serie A midfielder

Chelsea have reportedly agreed to meet Serie A side Inter Milan’s asking price for midfielder Matias Vecino in the summer transfer window.

Frank Lampard, who was less than impressed after the Blues failed to make any immediate signings this month, has told the club he wants to bolster his squad as many as four new players to follow Hakim Ziyech through the doors at the end of the campaign.

The Blues will prioritise a move for a versatile midfielder and 28-year-old Inter player Vecino has been identified as a realistic target ahead of the 2020/21 term.

According to The Daily Express, Chelsea are willing to pay up the €28 million (£23 million) fee Inter are demanding for the South American.

The Uruguay international has spent much of his professional career in Italy after departing Nacional to sign for Fiorentina back in 2013.

He then had two successful stints with Cagliari and Empoli before completing a permanent transfer to the San Siro.
