Agreement is very close – Chelsea free to sign World class defender

CHELSEA may have been handed a transfer boost in their reported interest in Inter Milan star Denzel Dumfries.

Dumfries is a player that Chelsea have been eyeing up for some time – but have never made an official offer – but after seeing him impress at the World Cup – and then in the Champions League – Chelsea are determined to sign the defender

Now, it seems that they may be able to get the player for a bargain during the summer transfer window.

Inter are currently setting out their plans ahead of next season following an impressive campaign that saw them win the Coppa Italia and make it to the Champions League Final.

According to transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio the Nerezzurri have held a “positive meeting” with Aarhus ace Yann Aurel Bisseck.

Di Marzio claims the Serie A giants are set to “reach an agreement” with Bisseck, who has a €7million (£6m) release clause.

Inter manager Simone Inzaghi looks to boost his defensive options, which could potentially pave the way for Chelsea to revive their interest in Dumfires.

Amid all the speculation and the rumours – reporter Iomie Stanley told icfootballnewsChelsea do not need to splash the cash to sign a defender that will replace Reece James – just provide back-up.

‘The Dutchman is a starter – he is a player that will want to play every-game and that could cause issues.

‘James is one of the best wingbacks in the game, so Chelsea. should be looking to sign a player that will provide him good competition – be a good back-up but also be ready to sit on the bench and be happy.

‘There is no harm in having two quality wingbacks in the squad – but with both of them eager to play – Dumfries would be a very good signing if he is prepared to wait for his chances.
