Chelsea are reportedly leading the race for Bayer Leverkusen star Kai Havertz.
According to Daily Express, Chelsea and Real Madrid have submitted opening bids for the Germany international ahead of the summer transfer window, with Chelsea outbidding Real Madrid.
Chelsea have reportedly offered Bayer Leverkusen £80million to take the 21-year-old to Stamford Bridge and the Blues want to tie the versatile midfielder down to a five-year contract worth £5m-a-year.
Real Madrid reportedly offered £72 million to sign Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen, with the Spanish club offering the midfielder a five year deal worth £4.5 million yearly.
Premier League rivals Manchester United are also interested in the midfielder but they are yet to make a move for the 21 year old, with their focus on Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho.
