“Am Shocked” – Fabregas reveals two things that shocked him in Chelsea vs Tottenham clash

Cesc Fabregas, a former Chelsea midfielder, tweeted his shock when Pierre Emile Hojbjerg’s goal for Tottenham Hotspur was not disallowed for offside.

On Sunday, August 14, the Blues faced the Lilywhites at Stamford Bridge in what was their respective teams’ first significant test of the year. In a closely contested match in west London that ended 2-2, both teams split the victory.

The day’s first goal was scored by a combination of manager Thomas Tuchel’s summer additions in the 19th minute. Kalidou Koulibaly headed Kalidou Cucurella’s corner into the net to give the Blues the lead.

In the 68th minute of the game, Hojbjerg’s strike from outside the area found its way into Edouard Mendy’s goal, sparking a moment of debate. Richarlison, who replaced Ryan Sessegnon in the 57th second, appeared to be in the Senegal international’s line of sight when the shot was taken.

Although the former Everton player was offside, the goal from the Dane was allowed to stand. Rodrigo Bentancur obviously appeared to have fouled Kai Havertz in the lead-up to that goal, further adding to the sorrow of Spurs supporters.

The referee overlooked that particular incident as well. Fabregas took to Twitter to express his bemusement after the goal was given. He wrote:

“Foul on Kai plus offside from Richarlison. Shocking.”
