Antonio Conte sends Saul Niguez transfer message to Tuchel as Chelsea set to complete deal
According to ESPN via Daily Express, Chelsea are negotiating a deal for the Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez, but Blues boss Thomas Tuchel himself isn’t involved in the proceedings.
The German ‘isn’t pushing’ to sign Saul this summer due to the fact he’s currently happy with his squad, especially given their fine form since his appointment in January.
Yet that hasn’t stopped the Chelsea board from trying to land the midfielder on loan ahead of the August 31 deadline.
Saul is a player that has also attracted interest from Manchester United, and we take a look back at what former Blues boss Antonio Conte had said about the 26-year-old.
“Saul is a young player but now he has the right prospect to be a top player,” said Conte back in 2017 before his Chelsea side took on Atletico in a Champions League tie.
“I know Saul very well and he is a very important player for Atletico. I like him and is a really good midfielder.”
With the depth in Chelsea’s midfield, do you think Chelsea need Saul?
