The likes of Jurgen Klopp who led Liverpool to an extraordinary title feat, Sheffield United’s boss Chris Wilder and even Wolves who have been remarkable under Nuno Espirito Santo, all deserve to be hailed for their work done.
However, Sky Sports pundit and Arsenal legend Paul Merson has revealed that Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is deserving of the award, especially after a remarkable season where the Blues could win the FA Cup and finish the season as third, despite not making any signing.
“I thought Chelsea were outstanding [against Manchester United], absolutely brilliant,” Merson told Sky Sports.
“Chelsea are in the same position as Man Utd, and they played a strong side. They’ve got to go to Liverpool and play at home to Wolves! ‘Frank Lampard knows if he wins the FA Cup, it’s a huge achievement.
“We spoke about this being a consolidating year for Chelsea, well he’s two games away from the top four and he’s one game from the FA Cup.
“For his first year in the top flight, where he couldn’t buy a player, he should get the manager of the year! It’s phenomenal.”
