“As I said before! as Inter Milan boss reacted to Romelu Lukaku comments on returning to Inter Milan
Inter Milan boss Simone Inzaghi insists controversy around Chelsea striker Romelu Lukau has nothing to do with them.
Inzaghi also hailed Lukaku as a great player who had two extraordinary seasons with Inter Milan. Inzaghi also insisted Lukaku will do well for Chelsea.
Inzaghi said as per TribalFootball: “It’s not something that really has to do with me. All I can say is that Lukaku is a great player who had two extraordinary seasons here. He worked with me for 10 days and is a top player, so I’m sure he’ll do well at Chelsea too.
“As I said before, we need the enthusiasm around Inter to be motivation and not pressure. We know that we are the leaders and everyone will be out to cause us problems.
“Nobody thought we were favourites two months ago, now they are saying it because we are on top. Compliments are nice, but the objective is to win trophies, which I achieved at Lazio and now want to do here too.”
Meanwhile, Lukaku has apologised to Thomas Tuchel, his team-mates and Chelsea supporters for his controversial interview with Italian media outlet Sky Italia.
“To the fans I’m sorry for the upset that I caused,” Lukaku said.
“You guys know the connection that I have with this club, since my teenage years, so you know, I totally understand you guys being upset.
“Obviously it’s up to me now to restore your trust and I’ll do my best to show commitment every day on the training ground to make sure that we win games.
“And also to the manager to my team-mates and the board because I think it was not the right moment also. And I want to move forward from this and make sure that we start winning football games and I perform for the team in the best manner.”
